A general survey course in astronomy intended for the student with little or no background in the physical sciences. The course will be composed of a study of the solar system, stellar astronomy, galaxies, and cosmology. The course will include the motions of the earth and the measurement of time, as well as the planets and other bodies of the solar system. Also covered is stellar characteristics and evolution. Telescopes will be introduced and some observations taken. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected. EduKan course number:PH178
