Hands on experience in conducting an actual livestock auction, including animal selection, advertising, cataloging and animal preparation, clerking, and sales budgets. An overview of various purebred livestock sales, 4-H / FFA Livestock project sales and new concepts in livestock marketing will be discussed.
For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
The agriculture program at SCCC provides opportunities to further each student’s knowledge of and skills in agricultural operations.
Outcome #1: Read with comprehension, be critical of what they read, and apply knowledge gained from their reading to broader issues of the day.

- Identify all aspects of conducting a livestock sale.
- Assemble various forms of sales promotion. The students will develop an advertisement campaign for a livestock sale.
- Examine the responsibilities of a sales manager, auctioneer, and ringman.
- Recognize the importance of professionalism in conducting a livestock sale.
