This online course prepares students to apply knowledge of surgical anatomy, related pathophysiology, surgical indications, and operative procedures to minimally invasive surgical procedures, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), orthopedic surgery, otorhinolaryngologic (ENT) surgery, and ophthalmic surgery. Students examine preoperative diagnostic procedures, patient preparation, equipment, instruments, supplies, surgical steps, and postoperative considerations. Basic concepts of robotic-assisted surgery are also introduced. Course content aligns with the AST Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology, 7th Edition.
