For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
The mission of the Surgical Technology program is to provide competent, entry-level surgical technologists.

Demonstrate knowledge of the operating room environment and surgical procedures.
- Transition from very few second scrub roles to mainly first scrub roles during the course of the clinical rotation.
- Demonstrate the application aseptic technique with accuracy.
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate the ability to work with all team members.
- Display professionalism while providing patient care
Students will be required to attend clinical three days a week, 8 hours a day for 15 weeks.
Students will first and second scrub on General, ENT, Orthopedic, OB-Gyn, Genitourinary, Ophthalmic, Plastic, and Peripheral Vascular Surgery.
Students will transition from the second scrub role to the first scrub role during the course while increasing knowledge of surgical procedures.
Cases will be logged using online database (DataArc) to track student progress throughout semester.
Students will learn, demonstrate and refine surgical technology skills in the on-site surgical technology lab and clinical facilities through clinical rotations.
Internet, web-based course management platform, audiovisual media, textbooks, online subscriptions, and clinical site staff.
