Course Description

This face-to-face course is designed to be a comprehensive review of surgical technology concepts and practical preparation for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Surgical Technologist Certifying Examination. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

Instructional Methods

The course will be delivered to students in a face-to-face format utilizing lecture, online quizzes, and interactive practice questions related to the content areas of the Surgical Technologist Certifying Examination Content Outline as published by the NBSTSA.

Several practices exams will be administered.

Instructional Resources and Materials

Internet, web-based course management platform, audiovisual media, textbooks, computer lab, online subscriptions.

Methods of Assessment

SCCC Outcome 5 will be assessed and measured by class participation, quizzes and practice examinations.

SCCC Outcome 6 will be assessed and measured by class participation, quizzes and student score on the practice examinations.
