This is a one-hour laboratory course. Through laboratory experiences, the student will develop an appropriate knowledge base of respiratory care protocols utilized to initiate and manage mechanical ventilatory support to critically ill patients. Course content includes airway management and initiating, managing, and discontinuing mechanical ventilation.
For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
The respiratory care program of Seward County Community College will provide an educational forum responsive to the needs of the health care community by developing competent and compassionate respiratory care practitioners.
