This course introduces students to the collision repair occupation. Personal safety is emphasized by the student learning OSHA laws. Proper handling and disposal of wastes including those classified as hazardous are discussed. Tool identification and safety along with basic auto construction and estimating systems are also introduced.

For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

Course Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify and take necessary precautions with hazardous operations and materials according to federal, state, and local regulations, Identify safety and personal health hazards according to OSHA guidelines and the "Right to Know�, and select and use the proper personal safety equipment for surface preparation, spray gun and related equipment operation, paint mixing, matching and application, paint defects, and detailing (gloves, suits, hoods, eye, and ear protection.

In this course, students will learn how to follow federal, state, and local regulations/laws according to safety standards and identify safety and personal health hazards, select and use proper personal safety equipment.
