Course Description

This course covers introductory instruction of sheet metal tools and sheet metal duct fabrication. The Couse also covers instruction on installation practices for fiberglass & flexible duct systems.

For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

  1. Identify and describe common types of sheet metal.
  2. Identify various methods of joining sheet metal.
  3. Describe methods used to insulate and attenuate sheet metal duct.
  4. Identify various sheet metal duct accessories and describe their installation.
  5. Identify different types of flexible duct and explain how it is installed.
  6. Demonstrate how to run a basic load calculation on structure.
  7. Identify critical parts of the IMC code.
  8. Describe the methods used to fabricate and repair fiberglass duct.
  9. Demonstrate the use of duct sizing calculators
