This course contains instruction on techniques and equipment used in troubleshooting cooling equipment, and mainly focusing on analyzing system temperatures and pressures to isolate faults.
For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

Students who complete this course will be able to at an introductory level:
- Identify and describe the operation of various compressor types
- Identify various refrigerant classifications and describe their environmental impact
- Demonstrate Basic installation and troubleshooting procedures on various HVAC Equipment
- Refrigerants & Oils
- Compressors
- Metering Devices
- Heat pumps
- Lecture Short: lectures will be used to emphasize different concepts of the daily lessons
- Assignments: Students will work selected problems in order to involve the student and assure his or her understanding of the skills required for future work.
- Lab: Group projects & short labs are used to develop an understanding of different concepts and improve on hands on skills.
- Class Discussions: Questions may be initiated by either the teacher or students at any time during class discussions
- Examinations: Tests are frequently used to help summarize concepts and emphasize important skills.
- Individual Help: Each student is encouraged to come for the instructor'�s help, providing he or she has been attending class regularly, as he or she has difficulty. Office hours are available by appointment.
