This course covers the operation, testing, and adjustment of conventional and electronic thermostats, as well as the operation of common electrical, electronic, and pneumatic circuits used to control HVAC systems.

For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

  1. Understand the operation and troubleshooting for various types of A.C. electrical motors found in the HVAC industry.
  2. Demonstrate safety practices when working around electrical circuits
  3. Demonstrate the use of a multi meter
  4. Demonstrate the use of ohms law.
  5. Identify and describe the components in an HVAC control circuit
  6. Interpret electrical diagrams.
