This is the first part of a two-semester chemistry program designed to provide the foundation for more advanced work. This course includes atomic structure, calculations with formulas, total ionic and net ionic equations, atomic and molecular structure, stoichiometry calculations, concentration calculations, thermochemistry, valence shell hybridization, volumetric solution calculations, oxidation-reduction reactions, gaseous state calculations, colloids, basic chemical equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected. EduKan course number: CH177

Prerequisites

Skill level of English Comp I and Intermediate Algebra or higher.
