BT1003: Business English

Credits 3
A course designed to have students learn and apply the skills of English usageā€”the foundation communication skills that competent workers need in the workplace. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

BT1103: Office Procedures

Credits 3

This finishing course is designed for students to further develop not only technology skills but also a broad range of human relation skills (including verbal and written communication) and critical-thinking skills. Emphasis is placed on telecommunications, records management, ethical behavior, presenting successfully, travel arrangements and mail procedures. Prerequisite: Intermediate Keyboarding or the equivalent. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

BT1223: Records Management

Credits 3
This course serves as a basic introduction to the increasingly comprehensive field of records management. Principles and practices of effective records management for both manual and automated records systems are emphasized. A manual/computerized simulation allows hands-on instruction in the storing and retrieving of information based upon updated ARMA Simplified Rules. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

BT1233: Business/Tech Communications

Credits 3
This course covers the gathering and using of information in the work environment. This course will emphasis placed upon written communication -- business letters, other forms of office communications, and technical reports. Oral communications, nonverbal communications, and listening skills will be studied.
